Celebrating at Wine Country in Disney California Adventure

Welcome to World of Color Wednesday! For those of you unfamiliar, Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color was a broadcast television series that showcased the new technology of color television. Today, Disney California Adventure plays tribute to that part of Disney history with a spectacular nighttime entertainment show featuring jets of water, lights, lasers and of course music. My own way to pay tribute to the show is by creating a color board every week, inspired by a different land from Disney Parks or character from Disney films. Join me every Wednesday in celebrating the Wonderful World of Color! There's many hidden areas in the Disneyland Resort to escape the crowds and enjoy some quiet time. Wine Country in Disney California Adventure is one of those areas that you would probably walk right by without knowing the hidden gems inside.

There are several dining areas within Wine Country including:

  • Wine Country Trattoria The full service (otherwise known as table service) restaurant offering a fine dining twist on Italian classics
  • Sonoma Terrace Offering a wide selection of beers as well as cold cuts, cheese and pretzels
  • Mendocino Terrace A small area to people-watch with a glass of wine
  • Alfresco Tasting Terrace Several flights are available from wineries associated with Disney Mood board color inspiration

My husband and I celebrated our 2 Year Wedding Anniversary at the Alfresco Tasting Terrace, and it was perfect! We each got the Tour of Napa Valley wine flights, which includes three small glasses from different wineries. For a light dinner, we ordered the Beef Tenderloin Sliders, Risotto Bites and Rustic Bruschetta. Everything was fantastic! For a great overview of the Alfresco Tasting Terrace, check out this review by a fellow Disney Etsy seller Imaginear!

Our service noticed our Anniversary buttons and surprised us with a free Mickey-shaped chocolate truffle dessert! It's those little things that remind me why my loyalty to Disney is so strong.

Wine Country Trattoria in Disney California AdventureTo complete our evening, we (almost) completed the Looking for Mickey Quest, then ended the night with a stroll along the Paradise Pier boardwalk (where I crushed him at the Games of the Boardwalk and won a little horse from Toy Story). It was the most special evening, and the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary!

The next time you need to relax after a long day, look no further than Wine Country in Disney California Adventure for a little "grown-up" relief!

Launch Date + Q3 2015 Goals

There's been so much going on behind-the-scenes over here that I missed the beginning of the Third Quarter! But goal setting is super important to me; I couldn't let this post pass by. I also have some exciting news about this week at the bottom of the post! Third Quarter Goal Setting for small business

Before I jump in, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate my Second Wedding Anniversary with husband. We have been so, so busy since moving to California last October that we haven't been able to celebrate much together. When you are both in a place of building your careers, it can be hard to be there for each other all the time. Combined with constant travel (business and otherwise), we are both ready to slow things down and focus on building our lives together in our new home. That's why one of my goals is to spend more time together (instead of giving in to my nocturnal habits...).

So today, in the midst of a huge week for my business, we are taking time to try the Alfresco Tasting Terrace at Disney California Adventure. It's one place neither of us have been, and I can't wait to experience it together. You can read more about our very Disney wedding anniversary last year here. Happy Anniversary to my adventure partner, I can't wait to see what the future holds!

2nd Quarter Goals:

  • Add 10 new products to my Etsy shop every month This goal was wildly off-base. I never want to be known for throwing out content just to put out content. Quality over quantity will always be an important value of mine. However, with the time I've taken to develop the latest collection, I anticipate future collections moving through production more quickly! I'm really excited to get more designs up in the Etsy shop, but I'm changing this goal to be more realistic with my other priorities.
  • Be intentional with social media & promotions Yes! I've spent a lot of time the last few months developing my voice and style on Instagram and Twitter. You can also find me on Facebook interacting in several Groups, and on Pinterest contributing to a few group boards. These are secondary outlets right now; I really love the connections I'm making on Instagram and Twitter!
  • Watch one CreativeLive course or other webinar a month I still love doing this, it reminds me to stay a part of a community for support. I've been spending more time on Periscope (@elainalynn) watching live streams from some of my favorite ladypreneurs.
  • Visit Disneyland every week Close! I held myself to a standard of grace, not perfection on this one last quarter with the high volume of travel and out-of-town visitors we hosted! I'm excited that this quarter will be a little quieter in terms of travel, and find myself craving a trip to the parks once a week again.
  • Create engaging content for my blog every week Yes! Things were a bit lighter in the end of May/June time period than I would have liked, but I made the most of celebrating the Disneyland 24 Hour Party and enjoying our summer travel and guests. As I get more and more clear on how I can best serve you awesome Dreamers, I'm coming up with lots of exciting ideas for new content!

3rd Quarter Goals

  • Create one complete collection every month
  • Be intentional with social media & promotions
  • Participate in online communities like CreativeLive, Periscope or other webinars
  • Visit Disneyland every week
  • Create engaging content for my blog every week
  • Adjust schedule to coordinate with my co-worker (aka husband!)

What you can expect in Quarter 3 from Elaina Lynn Design:

  • More Disney-inspired mood boards My obsession with Disney theming is deep. I love finding these details throughout the parks and tying them together with a compatible color scheme. I use these boards when developing a new collection. I hope you have been getting inspired as well!
  • More free downloads available to Adventure Club members In case you missed it, the August newsletter just went out with the Disney Day Planner, plus a special version to keep track of FastPass+ reservations at Walt Disney World! I have lots more exciting ideas for free content coming soon that you won't want to miss. Newsletters go out once a month with links to free downloads, coupon codes for the Etsy store and exclusive sneak peeks of new designs! Click here to join the adventure.
  • Themed Printable Party Kits Complete with invitations, thank you notes, and easy ways to tie in the theme throughout the party. I'll be sharing some tutorials here on the blog on how to use the collections to decorate any type of party.

Printable Party Kit Launch Date

In fact, I am excited to announce today the official launch date of the first collection, inspired by The Little Mermaid! Check back this Thursday, August 6th, for the first printable party kit debut! There may be some exclusive content going out... so make sure to join the celebration!

Ohana Means Family

The past few weeks have been filled with family visits, from my mom and brother coming down for some very full Disneyland days, to meeting my husband's uncles from Germany. To me, family means everything, so I pull back the reins on my business whenever family is in town. When I first heard this quote, I realized Lilo & Stitch was a must watch (those were dark days of Disney in my eyes... you never knew what you were gonna get *ahem Chicken Little*). My mom lived with her family in Hawaii for many years, so the Hawaiian culture is close to my heart.

Quote Lilo & Stitch Ohana means Family

For those of you who haven't been to Hawaii, the culture embodies everything I thought family should be.

Warm. Welcoming. Respectful of their history. Proud of their heritage.

My personal heritage is very blended, but no part of my history gets left behind when I share my family roots. From my Portuguese great grandfather who played ukelele, to my Native American great grandmother who resided in the Pacific Northwest, I am proud of each and every part.

I am proud to now include German heritage in my history after marrying my husband. The German culture shares many of the Hawaiian characteristics that I love. My husband's uncle welcomed us with open arms, eagerly inviting us to stay with him in Germany. I certainly hope we make it soon!

For now, I have some incredible stories to share about my new family history. Some things will always be more important than business, and family is one of them.

Website Updates

During my travel to meet the German uncles, I dove head first into the New York Times bestseller #GIRLBOSS (long long overdue). It is everything I hoped it would be and more, and I'm only halfway through. I came back from our quick trip on fire, ready to blaze trails and take action.

You may notice some (awesome) updates to the elainalynn.com website, including new navigation at the bottom of the page and exciting new ways to explore the Etsy and Redbubble shops. Let me know what you all think!

Thursday Thoughts: October is here!

Can you believe it?? October is here! The real beginning of my FAVORITE time of year. No joke. I live for pumpkin picking, cider making, costume designing, turkey cooking, family gathering, merriment making... you get the idea. I look forward to these three months ALL YEAR LONG. The sad horrible part is... I can't decorate! Currently my house is filled with packed & half packed boxes, so it would be silly to get out our holiday decorations, let alone go pumpkin picking. I can't wait to get down to California so I can put up my burlap & glitter leaves wreath and officially announce that FALL IS HERE!

Pugs with pumpkins, Fall is hereHave you seen the spooky new additions to the Etsy shop? Chloe (above) is the star of the new Halloween card that you can instantly download to mail this season. Hosting a Halloween bash? There's a new scary invitation perfect for a holiday party.
