For those of you planning a spring/summer 2015 wedding, it's time to start thinking about your invitations! It can be a daunting process, so I want to provide some bite-size tips to help you get the ball rolling.
Here are 3 easy small steps you can take to stay ahead of the game:
- Start a rough guest list and collect addresses. I recommend using a spreadsheet saved on the cloud (I use Google Drive) to easily share with your fiance and family. It also comes in handy for years to come, I still use mine for holiday cards and as a virtual address book!
- Start researching the difference between custom design vs. catalog/ready-to-order vs. DIY. There is no one right answer, everyone's situation is unique, so start learning about the pro's and con's of each. If you are going the custom design route, get on the books for your favorite designer as soon as you can. HINT: You can fall somewhere in-between. I am a firm believer of the partial DIY method!
- Order Save the Date cards. These are typically sent out 4 to 6 months before your wedding, so now is a great time to start the ordering process. BONUS: Getting engagement pictures taken? Use your photos for both your Save the Date announcements and your holiday cards!
I hope these tips will help make the wedding invitation process slightly less daunting. Have questions? I would love to answer them here on the blog! Send your small or big scary questions to elainalynndesign {at} gmail {dot} com or share them in the comments below!
Happy Planning!
