My beautiful niece, Avery Krus, was born in sunny Southern California. Before she was even born, I eagerly volunteered to design her birth announcements (because that's what aunts do, right??).
Now that we live in California full-time, I get to play with her all the time, along with her adorable sister Gracen. I love my nieces so much, and I'm so excited to watch them grow!
Pacific Pug Rescue Logo Design
As many of you may know, I am the proud owner of two wonderful pugs, Chloe & Maisy, otherwise known as the shop dogs. We adopted Maisy back in December 2013 (feels like it's been much longer!) from the Pacific Pug Rescue, an amazing organization based in Portland, Oregon that fosters pugs in real homes and helps them find furever homes. This organization will always been near and dear to my heart, so when one of the group organizers approached me to re-design the Pacific Pug Rescue's logo, I was ecstatic. I couldn't wait to help! I used both Chloe & Maisy as models to design a simplified pug face that could be used on their company site, social media, t-shirts and other materials. I am thrilled with how the logos came together. We came up with two we all loved, but the circular logo works great for their website and social media uses.

Recently, I had the honor of working with the Pacific Pug Rescue again to design a special ice cream flavor label for their current fundraiser. I loved finding a super chunky, "puggy" font to use for the new flavor, "Pug-elicious".
If you would like to get your own pint of Pug-elicious or other fabulous flavors from What's the Scoop? to support the Pacific Pug Rescue, click here to order!
And the next time you are ready to welcome a dog into your home, please consider adoption! It was the best decision we ever made.
Beer Themed Bachelorette Party Invitations
Weddings & events hosted at breweries are becoming more and more popular. The restaurant spaces & warehouses often make great venues, from rehearsal dinners to the wedding itself. Living in Portland, the microbrewery epicenter of America, beer is a big part of life around here. So when my friend Jessica approached me about creating a beer-themed bachelorette party invitation, I was stoked. Since the groom owns a brewery, the wedding will lend a nod towards his livelihood, featuring hops, mason jars and sunflowers. We decided to incorporate some of these elements into the invitations since the bride is a huge beer fan too! Jessica hosted a double-header event this past weekend starting with the bridal shower.

That evening, the ladies headed out to one of my personal favorite breweries that just set up shop in Boise, 10 Barrel Brewing Company!

I had so much fun creating these invitations for my friend & to celebrate all the female beer drinkers of the world. Cheers!
It's Shower Season!
The reoccurring theme I am hearing right now is "I need to plan a shower and/or bachelorette party this summer!" If this sounds familiar, you are in luck. There are some awesome themes popping up right now that will certainly make your BFF feel special. One of my favorites is a Bridal Brunch, mimosa bar anyone?? You can't go wrong with brunch, especially if your friend loves breakfast (my favorite meal of the day, hands down). The cost for food is usually cheaper and sometimes it's easier to find venues available in the mornings.
I am also loving the idea of a Country Western Weekend. Riding horses with your gal pals, followed by a little BBQ, s'mores & swapping stories around the campfire. Who said hoe downs were just for kids?
Finally, I can't leave out my own favorite, a Bridal Tea. You can go a few different directions with this one. Traditional (like my own shower), Mad Hatter, or modern (think glitter!).
I am loving the combination of mint and peach right now, and I think it would be an adorable theme for a bridal shower. You can purchase this design on my Etsy shop here. Watch for more designs & themes coming soon!
When in doubt, be authentic to you and the bride-to-be. Our mamas and grandmas have been throwing beautiful showers for ages. Don't be intimidated by Pinterest-envy. You don't need a theme, but sometimes it can be helpful to pull together ideas for food and decor.
Be yourself. Honor the bride. Shower her with love.

Deborah + Oliver: Wedding Response Card
My Best Friend's Wedding (Stationery) Part 2
I loved sharing my best friend's Save the Date announcements last week, and as her wedding gets even closer, I wanted to share her beautiful invitations!
What I love about Deborah & Oliver is that they mixed their personalities into every aspect of their wedding. They met over juggling, so you know their wedding is going to be full of fun personal touches.
Their wedding invitations were hand-drawn by Rebecca Wood, an artist in Austin, Texas, with a nod to their juggling roots. Their furbaby, Karli, even made it onto the invitation! Deborah asked if I could create a response card to match these works of art. Matching something hand-drawn was certainly a challenge, but I loved how colorful and whimsical they turned out!
Do you see that little "24" on the back of the response card? That's to help keep track of who sent the response card, in case they forget to write their name!
What unique ideas have you seen incorporated into wedding invitations?
